Are You Happy with How You’re Living Life?

"You can get a different job. You can't get a different life." While this phrase may appear to be a cliché, it’s true. If you really thought about it, are you happy with how you're living your life? When I asked myself this question in the height of my burnout, the answer was "No," and acknowledging that was a game-changer.

Realizing I wasn't happy was a tough pill to swallow (pun intended). At that moment, I didn't know what I truly wanted, but I knew my current path wasn't it. So, I decided to make a change. I didn't switch careers or abandon my job as a pharmacist. Instead, I started looking inward to understand what I really wanted from life.

I took time to get quiet with myself, reflecting deeply on my passions and desires. I revisited hobbies I had left behind in my pursuit of becoming a pharmacist, things like hiking with my husband and reading fantasy novels. These hobbies brought joy and a sense of fulfillment that I had been missing. I also explored new interests that I had always wanted to try but never made time for like hot yoga. As I embraced these activities, my life started to improve.

The changes I made weren't drastic in terms of my career, but they were profound in terms of my personal growth. I found a better balance and began to appreciate life more. The simple act of reconnecting with what I loved and exploring new interests made my life not just better, but truly good—the best it has ever been.

The crazy part is, I didn't change jobs; I changed myself. I focused on what made me happy and allowed myself to pursue those things. So, let me ask you: Are you happy with how you're living life? If not, maybe it's time to get quiet with yourself, rediscover your passions, and make the changes that will bring you true happiness. You only get one life—make sure it's a life you love.

I’m an investigational drug service clinical pharmacist specialist, a board certified pediatric pharmacy specialist, and a pharmacy preceptor, but I’m also a content creator, a wife, a cat and bird momma, and multi-passionate human being! (seriously, ask me about the geysers of Yellowstone or how NASA is sending humans back to the moon!)

I discovered that pharmacy could give me a lot in life, but it couldn’t give me a happy life on its own so I created a life I love and I am helping you do the same.
